Description
Once Upon A Rewrite: A New Chapter In Old Fairytales by Mahika Singh
Once Upon a Rewrite is a powerful collection of poetic retellings that breathe new life into the world’s most beloved fairytales. In these pages, Cinderella doesn’t wait for a prince, she walks out of the ashes on her own. Sleeping Beauty awakens not by a kiss, but by the strength she’s had all along. Belle learns that the real beast was the doubt inside her, and Jasmine discovers that freedom was never something to be granted, it was something to be taken. Blending self-love, feminism, resilience, and hope, each poem reimagines an old story with a new ending, one where the girl saves herself. These are not tales of damsels in distress, but women rewriting their narratives, reclaiming their voices, and stepping boldly into their own power. A new chapter for old fairytales, Once Upon a Rewrite is a reminder that happily-ever-after begins the moment you choose yourself.
Mahika Singh
At just twenty years old, Mahika Singh is already carving her place as a powerful young voice in contemporary poetry. A law student with a passion for women’s rights, she works with WICCI and various women-centric initiatives, using storytelling, legal awareness, and creative expression to empower those around her. She is the author of Lost in a Kaleidoscope, a collection of poetry and prose that explores identity, emotion, and the journey back to oneself. Her work blends lyrical vulnerability with bold feminist themes, reflecting her belief that stories, old or new, can be rewritten with courage and clarity. Growing up in a small town with traditional expectations, she now writes for the girls who were told to shrink themselves. Through her words, she hopes to inspire readers to reclaim their narratives, embrace self-love, and choose themselves every time. Once Upon a Rewrite is her second book, born from her desire to reimagine fairytales through a modern lens, where the princess is never waiting to be saved, because she learns she was her own hero all along.
