Interview – Pradeep Sen

Author Pradeep Sen Discusses The Student’s Guide—A Life Manual for Students to Succeed in Academics and Beyond

Book-Centric Questions

Interviewer: What inspired you to write The Student’s Guide? Was there a defining moment that pushed you to put pen to paper?

Pradeep Sen: When I was a student, I faced many difficulties—lack of guidance, average marks, pressure to perform like others, and confusion during college life. I realized that many students go through similar problems. They don’t receive practical knowledge about how studies, careers, and life actually work. Choosing a career also requires clarity. That’s when I decided to write this book. I spoke to many students and began working on a guide that could help them in real life.

Interviewer: How did your personal experiences as a student influence the content and tone of the book?

Pradeep Sen: As a student, I struggled with academic pressure, confusion in choosing the right course and college, financial difficulties, and lack of proper guidance. That’s why I relate so well to today’s students. This book is not just about academics—it’s a complete life guide. It supports students from school to college and even as they start working and growing in life. Everything I went through helped shape this book.

Interviewer: The book covers both academic and life skills. Why do you believe it’s important to integrate both in student development?

Pradeep Sen: Academic knowledge alone is not enough. Students also need support in managing time, handling emotions, making decisions, and balancing their studies with personal life. Many students can do well if they receive the right guidance and encouragement—like that of a true friend. Life skills are essential to stay strong and succeed in real-life situations.

Interviewer: Which chapter or topic in the book do you feel is most vital for today’s students, and why?

Pradeep Sen: Two chapters are especially important:

  • “Navigating Life Decisions”, where I discuss choosing the right career, course, and path in life.
  • “Real-World Reality”, which prepares students for life beyond school.
These are practical and much-needed topics for every student today.

Interviewer: How do you envision students using this guide—as a one-time read or a long-term reference companion?

Pradeep Sen: This book is not meant for just a one-time read. It’s a life companion. As students grow, they will encounter different challenges, and they’ll find this guide helpful at every stage—from school through college and into their careers. The more they read it, the more they’ll connect with it and gain from it.

🎓 Education & Philosophy

Interviewer: You’ve taught students across various levels. What are some common struggles you observe, and how does your book address them?

Pradeep Sen: Students often face academic pressure, low grades, confusion about careers, lack of confidence, and emotional stress. This book is written to guide not just students, but also parents and teachers in understanding these issues. It offers practical tips and simple strategies to help students improve academically, make better decisions, plan their careers, and get ready for the real world.

Interviewer: In your view, what is the biggest gap in today’s education system when it comes to preparing students for life beyond school?

Pradeep Sen: Our education system focuses too much on marks and completing textbooks, but not enough on life skills. It doesn’t prepare students to earn a living, manage money, choose the right career, or live a balanced life. Students aren’t taught how to make independent choices, think critically, or conduct personal research. That’s the biggest gap—and my book aims to fill it.

Interviewer: What role does mindset play in student success, and how can students develop a positive, growth-oriented mindset?
Pradeep Sen: Mindset is everything. Even an average student can become a topper with the right mindset. If a student reads this book and truly understands the guidance inside, they will begin to think positively, take action, and improve steadily. A growth mindset helps students succeed not just in school, but in every aspect of life.

✍️ Writing Journey & Future

Interviewer: What challenges did you face while writing this book, and how did you overcome them?

Pradeep Sen: The biggest challenge was identifying what students, parents, and teachers are getting wrong, and finding the right way to explain things clearly. I realized we are raising students to follow a rigid system instead of preparing them to face life’s challenges. It was difficult to present all of this in a single book, but I stayed consistent. My past experiences and my students’ stories inspired me to keep going until the book was complete.

Interviewer: Do you plan to write a follow-up or series based on The Student’s Guide—perhaps for parents, teachers, or college students?

Pradeep Sen: Yes, I do plan to expand this work with additional chapters—especially aimed at parents. I want to provide simple, effective tips to help them raise children who are confident, well-mannered, and ready for real life. My larger goal is to help students become successful—not just in academics but in life overall.
