Interview with Anushka Agrawal

Interviewer: What inspired you to write Undeniably Worthy?

Anushka Agrawal: The inspiration came from the countless stories I’ve witnessed, in life, in my work as a psychologist, and in quiet moments with clients at Heal With Anushka (www.healwithanushka.in). In the therapy room, I’ve seen people arrive with shattered trust and leave with a quiet confidence they thought they’d lost forever. Undeniably Worthy was born from the desire to capture that journey, not in clinical language, but in a story that could be felt deeply, even by someone who has never stepped into therapy.

Interviewer: How much of Khushi’s journey is drawn from real-life experiences you’ve encountered as a psychologist?

Anushka Agrawal: While Khushi’s story is fictional, the emotions behind it are very real. In my therapy practice, I’ve seen betrayal, heartbreak, and the slow, steady process of rebuilding self-worth. Khushi embodies the resilience I’ve seen in so many, the quiet decision to keep going, even when trust feels impossible.

Interviewer:  The title is powerful — how did you choose it?

Anushka Agrawal: Undeniably Worthy felt like a truth I wanted every reader to claim. It’s the kind of sentence I’ve said to clients across from me in the therapy room, a reminder that your value is non-negotiable, no matter what you’ve been through.

Interviewer: Which scene in the book was the most emotional for you to write?

Anushka Agrawal: The scene where Khushi finally chooses herself, fully, without looking back, was the most emotional to write. It reminded me of moments in therapy where a client suddenly sees themselves differently, with compassion instead of criticism. That shift is powerful to witness, whether in real life or on the page.

Interviewer: How do you balance storytelling with the psychological depth in your novels?

Anushka Agrawal: I let emotions lead. The psychology is always there, it’s in the way characters speak, hesitate, withdraw, or reach out. My aim is for readers to feel the depth without it ever feeling like a lesson. It’s the same balance I try to keep in therapy, guiding without taking over the journey.

Interviewer: What message do you hope readers take away from Khushi’s story?

Anushka Agrawal: That your worth does not disappear just because someone failed to see it. Life will test your self-belief, but you are allowed to come back to it, over and over again, until it feels like home again.

Interviewer: In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood aspect of healing from trauma?

Anushka Agrawal: That healing means you no longer remember the pain. In truth, healing is about remembering without reliving, holding the memory in a way that no longer controls you.

Interviewer: Who are the authors or poets that have influenced your writing style?

Anushka Agrawal: I’m drawn to authors who can take complex emotions and make them feel simple, raw, and relatable, the ones who can turn a single line into something you carry with you for days. That blend of vulnerability and strength is what I strive for too.

Interviewer: If Khushi could give one piece of advice to readers, what would it be?

Anushka Agrawal: “Don’t wait for someone else to validate your worth, live as if it’s already the most certain thing about you.”

Interviewer: What’s the next project you’re working on after Undeniably Worthy?

Anushka Agrawal: I’m exploring new stories centered on emotional resilience, trust, and personal growth. I haven’t finalised my next project yet, but I know it will carry the same emotional honesty that Undeniably Worthy holds.
