In Conversation with Priyanshi

What inspired you to write A Garden of Lost Hopes? Was there a particular event or emotion that sparked this collection?

There wasn’t a specific event or personal experience, but I observe these emotions in people around me, especially in today’s generation. I love writing romantic poetry as a way to express the feelings of one-sided love and faded love.

Your poems explore themes of love, loss, and heartbreak. How do you balance vulnerability with artistic expression in your writing?

Poetry is my way of expressing emotions. You know how you have a best friend—someone who understands and looks after you? For me, that’s poetry. It’s my outlet, my way of sharing my feelings with the world.

This is your debut poetry collection, but you previously contributed to Being an Indian Teenager. How has your writing evolved since then?

I wrote my first poem in the book Being an Indian Teenager, but I started taking writing seriously in the 10th grade. Since then, I’ve continued writing poetry, and with time, my style and depth of expression have improved.

What’s your favorite poem from A Garden of Lost Hopes and why?
Heart to Heart.

If you could describe your book in just three words, what would they be?
Faithless love.

The title A Garden of Lost Hopes is beautifully melancholic. How did you come up with it, and what does it symbolize for you?
As I mentioned, this book is about one-sided love and heartbreak. I chose the title A Garden of Lost Hopes because love makes you feel complete, like you’re in a beautiful garden with your loved one. But if the love is one-sided, the beauty of the garden loses its meaning. That’s why this book carries that name.

Are you on social media, and where can readers connect with you?
Yes, I am on Instagram. Readers can connect with me at @the_modestt67.

Many young writers struggle with self-doubt. What advice would you give to aspiring poets who want to share their work with the world?
Every achievement requires effort. I wouldn’t call it a struggle, but if you consistently work on something, you will see results. My advice is simple: if you truly want to do it, you can. This book took me a year to complete, and in that time, I learned so much.

Where can readers order your book?
Readers can order the book from the official website of Literature Light as well as on Amazon.
